DentalGoodNews|The Minnesota Board of Dentistry recently experienced a Data Breach: approximately 1,200 dental professionals had their personal information included in the affected list, of which about 647 individuals' private data was actually accessed by unauthorized parties. The specific types of information leaked have not yet been disclosed. According to public records, the Board currently regulates more than 17,700 dental professionals across the state, covering multiple categories of licensed practitioners including dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and dental therapists. The number of individuals involved in this breach represents a relatively small proportion of overall licensees, but affected professionals should still verify whether their personal information was implicated. The Board stated that no evidence of data misuse has been found so far. On March 13, 2026, Board Chair Ashley Johnson, DMD, of the Minnesota Board of Dentistry received notification from legal counsel regarding a potential security incident, and subsequently reported the matter to the Office of the Legislative Auditor. In July, the Minnesota Department of Administration completed its investigation and confirmed the aforementioned scope of the breach.
