DentalGoodNews|SprintRay, Inc., the U.S. operating entity of the digital dental 3D printing brand SprintRay under Zhejiang Xunshi Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "SprintRay"), filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the Oakland Division of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The lawsuit alleges that Shining3D Tech Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Shining3D") and its U.S. affiliate Shining 3D Technology, Inc. have infringed five U.S. patents related to resin curing substrates, reservoir/substrate assemblies, and 3D printing separation force control technologies.

The accused products cover two 3D printers from Shining3D and their accompanying resin tank assemblies, specifically including the AccuFab-F1, AccuFab-CEL, as well as components and accessories such as HyperClear and Standard resin tanks. These products are publicly sold in the U.S. market through Shining3D's official website, U.S. sales channels, and distributors.

The five asserted patents cover technologies related to resin curing assemblies, reservoir structures for reducing 3D printing separation forces, and techniques for enhancing the surface finish of 3D-printed parts. The patent numbers are 10,894,355, 11,633,910, 11,679,555, 12,576,588, and 12,583,180, with grant dates ranging from 2021 to 2026.

Among the two accused products, the AccuFab-CEL was commercially launched at LabDay 2024 in February 2024, and the AccuFab-F1 was commercially launched in 2025. Both have been sold in the U.S. market. The former uses LCD technology, while the latter uses DLP technology. SprintRay asserts that the structures of both printers and their related resin tank assemblies fall within the scope of the asserted patent claims.

In addition to direct infringement, SprintRay also claims that the defendants are liable for indirect infringement. Shining3D, through user manuals, training support, instructional videos, and marketing promotions, has guided distributors and end users to use the relevant products in the accused manner, constituting induced infringement. Furthermore, the sale and importation of the related resin tank assemblies, as essential components of the patented systems, also constitute contributory infringement.

Regarding the relief sought, SprintRay requests the court to find the defendants liable for direct infringement, induced infringement, and contributory infringement of the asserted patents, and to issue preliminary and permanent injunctions. SprintRay also seeks damages in an amount no less than a reasonable royalty. Additionally, SprintRay requests the court to find that the defendants have engaged in willful infringement at least from the date of the complaint's filing, to account for related infringing sales and revenues, and to award pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, litigation costs, and reasonable attorney fees.

The case has been accepted by the court (Case No. 4:26-cv-06026) and is currently in the early stages of litigation. The defendants have not yet publicly responded. As of the time of reporting, neither Shining3D nor SprintRay has issued an official press release regarding this lawsuit on their websites.

Zhejiang Xunshi Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2013, with its R&D team accounting for over 30% of its workforce. Its business spans North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific markets. Its brand, SprintRay, established in 2014, holds over 55% of the installed base in the chairside dental 3D printing market in Europe and the U.S., serving nearly 30,000 clinical end customers worldwide, covering applications such as implantology, orthodontics, and prosthodontics. According to previous reports by DENTALGOODNEWS (Leading Dental Industry Media, DGN), SprintRay acquired EnvisionTEC's dental product portfolio in 2025, further expanding its reserves in intellectual property and digital consumables.

Shining3D Tech Co., Ltd. was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Hangzhou. It primarily focuses on high-precision 3D scanners and digital dental products, with its products covering over 100 countries and regions. It sells related products in the U.S. market through its official website, authorized dealers, and distributors. In 2025, the company achieved revenue of 1.575 billion yuan, with net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company growing 100% year-over-year. Currently, the company is advancing its IPO process on the Beijing Stock Exchange (BSE): on June 11, 2026, the BSE issued a second-round review inquiry letter, focusing on the reasonableness of its gross profit margin being higher than competitors such as Align and 3Shape, as well as the authenticity of its rapid performance growth in the European and U.S. markets. The company's stock is currently suspended pending the completion of the review process.
