CareQuest and Kno2 Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Dental Integration into U.S. Health Information Exchange SystemIssuing time:2026-03-27 13:34
DentalGoodNews|March 24, 2026 – CareQuest Innovation Partners and Kno2 announced a strategic partnership to launch a nationwide initiative. This initiative aims to build scalable pathways for integrating dentistry into the core U.S. health information exchange infrastructure. It seeks to bridge the information gap between oral and systemic health through bidirectional data exchange, thereby improving patient outcomes. CareQuest Innovation Partners is an innovation investment firm dedicated to improving overall health through oral health, focusing on validating and scaling transformative solutions. Kno2 is a U.S.-based full-stack healthcare communication infrastructure provider, designated as a Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN), handling billions of data transactions annually. Currently, despite growing research on the connection between oral and systemic health, dental care remains largely disconnected from the national interoperability framework. According to research from the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, medical providers are nearly twice as likely as dental providers to identify cross-institutional prescription medications through Electronic Health Records (EHRs). This information gap can lead to clinical decisions made without complete information, potentially causing complications, emergency department visits, or missed warning signs of systemic diseases. Through this partnership, CareQuest will leverage its capital, resources, and advisory expertise as a catalyst to drive dental practice participation in Kno2's nationwide network. Two major Electronic Dental Record (EDR) platforms, covering approximately 20% of the dental market share, have joined the initiative as flagship partners. The collaborating parties plan to achieve a production environment launch within six months and target a 25% adoption rate among participating EDR-side healthcare provider users in the first year. Moving forward, the initiative will facilitate dentists' access to a nationally connected network, enabling secure information exchange and ensuring seamless clinical data flow between medical clinics and the dental chairside. Therasa Bell, Founder and President of Kno2, stated that with increasing federal interoperability compliance requirements and rising healthcare costs, there is an urgent need to fully integrate dentistry into the connected healthcare ecosystem.
