DentalGoodNews|Recently, MANI, INC. (hereinafter referred to as "MANI") officially signed a Medical Devices production project to settle in Nanhai, Foshan. According to the Foshan Municipal Health Bureau, the project has a total investment of approximately 1.2 billion yen (about RMB 50 million). This marks MANI's first production base in China, aiming to shorten product registration cycles through Localized Production and further strengthen its competitiveness in the Chinese market. It is reported that the production project will be built in two phases. The first phase focuses on the R&D and production of high-end ophthalmic surgical blades. The second phase plans to deploy core Oral instruments such as diamond burs, continuously injecting cutting-edge technological resources into the regional health industry. MANI stated that since ophthalmic surgical blades are classified as Class II Medical Devices in China, the company can directly apply for product registration with the Guangdong Provincial Drug Administration by establishing a factory in Guangdong. According to its disclosure, this move is expected to shorten the original regulatory approval cycle of about 18 months to approximately 9 months, halving the waiting time. Public information shows that MANI, INC. was founded in 1956 and was listed on the main board of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2011, holding over 310 core patents. According to previous reports by DENTALGOODNEWS (Leading Dental Industry Media, DGN), MANI recorded a revenue of 2.255 billion yen (about RMB 95 million) in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, with an Operating Margin rising to 28.8%. In the Chinese market, it achieved sales of 740 million yen (about RMB 31 million), a year-on-year decrease of 3% but a quarter-on-quarter increase of 33%.
MANI stated that the project's location in Nanhai, Foshan, primarily leverages the Industrial Cluster effect of the local "Southern Dental Valley." The Foshan Municipal Health Bureau disclosed that Nanhai currently hosts over 300 Oral instrument-related enterprises, with the domestic market share of dental chairs and dental handpieces exceeding 70% and 90%, respectively. After MANI's project settles, it can match a full set of upstream supporting resources, such as resin shells and sterilization packaging, within a 30-minute industrial radius. Additionally, the U.S. company DuPont, which mass-produces high-end medical packaging material "Tyvek," has already established supporting facilities near the project site, providing supply chain support for MANI. The Foshan Municipal Health Bureau stated that, in the next step, the Nanhai District will continue to support foreign-funded enterprises in expanding production and continuously enhance the technological level of the industrial chain.
