2025 U.S. Dentist Salaries: Average Annual Salary Approximately 1.3 Million RMB, Highest Hourly Wage Around 789 RMBIssuing time:2026-05-27 18:50
DentalGoodNews|The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) recently updated its dental compensation statistics reflecting 2025 data. The data shows that the average annual salary for general dentists nationwide is $191,350 (approximately RMB 1.2993 million). Among the 47 states with available data, Missouri ranks first nationally with an average hourly wage of $116.15 (approximately RMB 788.66); after adjusting for the 2025 Cost of Living Index (COLI), its hourly wage further rises to $130.51 (approximately RMB 886.16), still ranking first in the country. According to previous reports by DGN (Leading Dental Industry Media, DGN), dentists in multiple U.S. states have filed antitrust class-action lawsuits against Delta Dental over compensation issues. In this COLI-adjusted data, the differences in real income purchasing power in high-cost-of-living states are also reflected. Data comparisons show that the nominal average hourly wage for dentists in Massachusetts is $107.31 (approximately RMB 728.63), but due to a COLI of 141.2, the adjusted hourly wage drops to $76.00 (approximately RMB 516.04); in California, the nominal average hourly wage is $82.06 (approximately RMB 557.19), which further falls to $57.67 (approximately RMB 391.58) after adjustment, making it one of the lowest levels among the states surveyed. In contrast, low-cost-of-living areas show a certain positive adjustment effect on income. For example, the nominal average hourly wage for dentists in Arkansas is $83.79 (approximately RMB 568.93), which rises to $93.52 (approximately RMB 635.00) after COLI (89.6) adjustment; in Tennessee, the adjusted hourly wage reaches $112.18 (approximately RMB 761.70), and in North Dakota, it reaches $116.95 (approximately RMB 794.09). It should be noted that there are regional differences in the actual income levels of U.S. dentists, and high-salary states do not completely overlap with high-purchasing-power states.
