AMD Lasers Launches Laser Root Canal Disinfection System, Reducing Average Root Canal Treatment Time by Approximately 44%

(hereinafter referred to as "AMD Lasers") announced the launch of its next-generation laser-assisted root canal disinfection system, LEAP® (Laser Endodontic Ablation Procedure). The system is designed to simplify the root canal treatment workflow, providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for complete bacterial eradication. It is scheduled to make its official debut at the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Annual Meeting, commencing on April 15, 2026.

AMD Lasers, a subsidiary of CAO Group, Inc., holds over 160 patents. Its founder and CEO, Dr. Densen Cao, is the inventor of the first LED curing light. The newly launched LEAP system integrates the Picasso Pro™ diode laser, the patented LEAP disinfecting solution, and specially designed LEAP fiber tips. Currently, all components of the LEAP system, as well as the complete protocol, have received clearance from the U.S. FDA.

Regarding technical specifications, the system utilizes an 810 nm diode laser platform. Independent laboratory studies cited by the company indicate that LEAP achieves a kill rate exceeding 99.99% against Enterococcus faecalis, one of the most persistent pathogens in root canal infections. Furthermore, the equipped LEAP fiber tip has a diameter of only 200 µm, enabling clinicians to access the apical third with minimal canal enlargement, which helps preserve the natural tooth structure.

In terms of clinical performance, preliminary clinical evaluations show that 80% of patients reported no pain within 24 hours post-treatment, and 100% reported no pain after 7 days. Concurrently, the LEAP protocol significantly reduces treatment time by minimizing the filing sequence, dentin removal, and irrigation steps. According to the company, the average root canal treatment time can be shortened from 90 minutes to approximately 50 minutes, a reduction of about 44%, and eliminates the need for sodium hypochlorite during the procedure.

Regarding cost-effectiveness, the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the Picasso Pro laser system is under $10,000, and the Consumables cost per LEAP treatment is less than $30. As of press time, the company has not disclosed the suggested retail price or launch plans for the Chinese market.
