Haleon invests nearly 600 million RMB to build a new oral health production base in Shanghai.

DentalGoodNews | On March 11, 2026, consumer health company Haleon announced an investment of £65 million (approximately RMB 597 million) to build a new oral health production base in the Shanghai Lingang New Area. Concurrently, the company plans to expand the coverage of its gum health brand parodontax to 30 cities in China by the end of 2027, reaching over 250 million people.

According to data compiled by Haleon, China is the world's largest gum health market, with a market size of approximately £860 million. Over 70% of adults in China experience varying degrees of gum problems.

The announcement stated that through localized production, the company will achieve supply autonomy for oral care products in China. It also plans to achieve a total productivity cost savings target of £800 million over the next five years through supply chain optimization.

Regarding distribution strategy, Haleon plans to continue expanding on e-commerce platforms like Douyin while also leveraging offline retail pharmacy channels to introduce parodontax into more cities, targeting the local middle-class population. The company's global R&D team has already localized the parodontax product formula to better suit Chinese consumer preferences.

Haleon (LSE/NYSE: HLN) is a British consumer health company spun off from GSK in July 2022. Its portfolio includes brands such as Sensodyne, parodontax, Advil, and Centrum, spanning six major categories: oral health, vitamin and mineral supplements, pain relief, and respiratory health.

According to a previous report by DGN, in October 2024, Haleon announced a £130 million investment to build a Global Oral Health Innovation Centre in Weybridge, UK, scheduled for operation in 2027. In June 2025, Haleon completed the full acquisition of the joint venture TSKF for approximately £700 million, gaining direct control over its OTC business in China.

As of the time of writing, Haleon has not disclosed a specific timeline for the new production base's operational commencement.
