The FDI World Dental Congress 2025 shines brightly as it kicks off

On September 9, 2025, the FDI 2025 World Congress of Dentistry grandly opened at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center.This conference was hosted by the World Dental Federation (FDI), organized by the Chinese Stomatological Association and Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions, and co-organized by the Shanghai Stomatological Association.

The dental equipment and supplies exhibition was grand.For the first time, scientific and technological achievements from dental colleges and universities were featured in the exhibition area: an exhibition of dental medical equipment and instruments comprised of more than 400 companies from around the world, attracting a large and bustling crowd.More than 10 dental colleges from my country made their debut at the FDI-WDC exhibition, showcasing their latest scientific and technological achievements and becoming a beautiful sight to behold.

On the evening of September 9th, the FDI 2025 World Congress of Dentistry opened. The opening animation video, featuring the congress mascot, the giant panda "Ya Ya," and their old friend, FDI Oral Health Ambassador "Toothie," as they toured China's beautiful landscapes, sampled Shanghai's cuisine, and experienced Chinese culture, vividly immersing the audience in the opening atmosphere. The 6,000-seat Hong Hall was packed, with delegates from over 140 countries and regions gathering throughout the venue.Guided by the solemn playing of the national anthem of the People's Republic of China, China welcomes dental professionals from around the world with an open mind.

Academician Han Qide of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Greg Chadwick, President of FDI, and Guo Chuanbin, President of the Chinese Stomatological Association, delivered enthusiastic speeches respectively.We wish for the continued development of global oral health and look forward to further strengthening of international cooperation.After President Guo Chuanbin warmly welcomed the guests from all directions, Academician Zhao Yimin, Director of the International Museum of Dentistry, and representatives of the Chinese Stomatological Association presented the FDI with a painting titled "The Birth of the World Dental Federation (FDI)," created in China. The current president, Mr. Greg Chadwick, and the president-elect, Mr. Nikolai Sharkov, accepted the painting. The handover of the FDI presidency took place during the opening ceremony.
